Paige Elliot Phoenix is a musician/singer/songwriter, psychotherapist, transactivist, writer and public educator. Paige appeared on channel 7's X Factor in 2011 in the over 25's category, and was successful in getting through to the final six for his category. As the first out transsexual performer on a show of it's kind, Paige's controversial appearance made a significant contribution toward increasing the public profile of transsexuals both in Australia and abroad. Paige currently resides in Melbourne and keeps himself occupied with regular music and entertainment gigs, a private psychotherapy practice, public education and transactivism, and is currently writing a book about his experiences. Paige is passionate about music, surfing, skating, fitness, cooking, MMA, motorcycles, family and friends and his community.

Paige Elliot Phoenix was born Paige Elise Ridgeway in Melbourne, Victoria on the 5th of November 1975. After years of struggle over identity and personality issues, he left his family and became a ward of the state. This move toward self determination marked the beginning of a journey of exploration and self discovery.Clearly a sensation seeker, Paige always seemed to be looking for the next edge,and a resolution to a deep dissatisfaction that he carried but could not name. Paige dropped out of school and drugs and alcohol featured heavily in his life during this time, later leading to severe auto-immune and adrenal dysfunction. Life threatening in it's seriousness, the decline in his health triggered a period of dramatic change. Paige began a straight edge lifestyle that he maintained until the completion of his undegraduate degree and post graduate qualifications in psychotherapy. The spiritual dimension of his life began to develop with the meeting of his teacher Gangaji in Bangalow in 2006.
Paige dabbled in music and performance right throughout his adult life, mostly doing drag king, fetish and kink performances. But there was still a piece missing that was making it difficult for Paige to really feel into his capacity as a performer.The final piece of the puzzle fell into place in 2005 when he began to explore gender transition as an option. This change brought all the threads together for Paige, as a person, as a musician, and as an activist. His therapeutic and social justice work began to focus more specifically on the gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender community. Paige competed successfully in the X Factor in 2011 in the over 25's category. The decision to present as an out transsexual musician on the show, was made in the hope that it would in some way contribute to more open consideration and discussion of gender issues in the Australian mainstream. Paige is now diversifying his interests. He continues to push for social change and discourse in relation to trans issues, and is performing musically and working on his first book,
